SPAGHETTI/RAMEN NOODLE WESTERN TUNES

Okay, so not really. But listening to Javelin’s Canyon Candy (Luaka Bop, 2011) is simultaneously giving me the Cowboy Bebop and Sergio Leone itch.

Classic western sounds tinged with Javelin’s tried and true electronic fare. Very evocative and just a tad nostalgic. An homage to popular visions of the American West? Maybe this is what Ennio Morricone would have come up with if he wanted to pursue a late-life second career as a Brooklyn indie electronic musician.

Definitely worth many, many listens. Once you’re done with “Cowpoke,” get thee hence to the Luaka Bop website to stream the entire album, then check out the Canyon Candy Short Film.
